Get a leak-proof seal in minutes — step-by-step instructions for tanks, aquariums & hydro systems

Installation Overview

  • Drill the correct hole size
  • Ensure all mating surfaces are clean, dry, and free of debris
  • Insert bulkhead from inside the tank
  • Place gasket on the flange side (wet side)
  • Hand-tighten first, then use a wrench for no more than an additional ⅛–¼ turn — do not over-tighten
  • Test for leaks before full operation

Bulkhead fittings seal with gasket compression — not excessive force.

Step-by-Step Installation

Follow these steps carefully to ensure a proper seal and prevent leaks.

Avoid These Common Mistakes

Incorrect gasket placement and over-tightening are the leading causes of leaks

    • Gasket installed on the wrong side (never install gasket next to the nut)
    • Over-tightening (especially with tools)
    • ❌ Rough or uneven hole edges
    • ❌ Installing on curved surfaces without adjustment
